Vampire Defense James D Bell Books

EVEN VAMPIRE SLAYERS NEED A GOOD LAWYERJohn Brooks is a brilliant young lawyer working hard, but not getting much notice. Those who know him admire his work ethic and his intellect. His friends believe that he needs one big case to show off his talents. Defending Hal Boyd, known as the Butcher of Belhaven, on arson and four murder charges, looks like that big case as the world media, hungry to fill 24 hours a day of non-stop news coverage, converges on Jackson, Mississippi. Soon the Boyd case looks like a career ender when Brooks announces to his defense “Not guilty by reason of insanity. My client was so insane that he believed that the person he intended to kill was a vampire.” The world media ridicules the “Vampire Defense,” and Brooks and his defense team become the laughing stock of the legal profession.Ridicule becomes the least of Brooks problems when he discovers that a satanic cult is intent on exacting murderous revenge against Boyd and his defense team for daring to defend him. Kidnapping and multiple murders occur at a dizzy pace as the action careens from the city to the swamp to the courtroom. Romance coupled with comic relief allows you to occasionally catch your breath, until even that is stolen by a double climax with a verdict that shocks the world, followed immediately by a dramatic final battle between good and evil. The Vampire Defense is so "bloody good" you can taste it.
Vampire Defense James D Bell Books
Here is a supposed lawyer novel, about a hotshot defense lawyer who takes on what seems to be an unwinnable case: His client has been accused of murdering a houseful of people and then burning it down. His defense: He was killing a vampire. Additionally this lawyer has somewhat remarkable luck, for he is simultaneously privileged to help revive an extinct but enormously popular label of liquor, his secretary is kidnapped, he rather carelessly hires as a paralegal a sometime client who is an unrepented con man, and he's up against a prosecutor who seems to have slept through professional ethics class. Apart from the very unrealistic setting, we have rather poor proofreading ("a rouge priest") and editing (nobody explains how the crime scene caught fire) and my reading through to the bitter end was eventually motivated only by the nominal achievement in finishing the story and the fading hope that somehow the ending would make the effort worthwhile. Although the author is a retired judge, there is very little about this story that can teach you anything about law or courts or crime or investigation. I do not hope for a sequel.Product details

Vampire Defense James D Bell Books Reviews
I found this book to be an interesting read from the first page. The multiple story lines just added to the suspense of it all. Being in the legal field myself, it was an entertaining to read a book written by a former Judge. I recommend this book to anyone!
good job James! fun read
If you like action, drama, romance, intrigue, and a book with lots of twists, then this one is for you!! I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope there will be a follow up book one day. The author did a great job of including and explaining aspects of Christianity while keeping the pace quick and interesting to the reader. I highly recommend Vampire Defense!
I thoroughly enjoyed and was captivated by this book. It wove a very interesting series of stories that I enjoyed reading as it unfolded. It did a great job of developing the central characters in a consistent fashion that also provided some unexpected twists and turns. I recommend it highly!
I just finished Vampire Defense and I loved this book. It kept me interested and I wanted to keep reading. The main character was a hero and the villan a nasty evil wretch. There were so many characters to love in this book. I was rooting for the good guys all the way. Winning!!! -Ronnie
I also just finished the book and loved it as well! It is a great book,it is intriguing, and kept my attention the entire time. Many characters and interesting names! Really enjoyed reading it! Definitely recommend it! -Shelley
I love the book. Vampire Defense gets your attention early and keeps it all the way through to the finish. My statement about the book is simply this Faulkner, Grisham, Morris, and Welty, should make room for the birthing of another great Mississippi writer. I believe in a matter of time it will become a movie.
I've been reading a lot of books lately mostly horror fiction and zombie so I decided to switch it up. This book was amazing. I got sucked into the story and I couldn't put it down the main character and all his friends were interesting each in their own right and I cared about all of them. Great mix of suspense and action and a little bit of horror. I definitely hope the author makes this a series because I plan on buying every one of they are as great as this book was.
